Every Year the Stairway Manufacturers Association hosts a competition for best straight and best curved stair as well as best balustrade.

We were very proud to receive not just one award - but two first place awards in this competition amongst our peers.

Best Curved Stair

The curved winner epitomizes Island style – a little fantasy and a lot of beautiful curved lines. Gracefully visual curved white oak frames eco-resin panels with an organic reed interlayer.

This stair also conquered many interior space limitations the most important being the passing of the headroom code by less than ¼ of an inch. This was achieved with much detailed communication and careful technical design for a job site nearly 3,000 miles away from our studio.

Best Straight Stair

The straight stair winner is that of a refined modern craftsman. Elegant solid windfall salvaged Koa wood frames slumped art glass. When the light reflects through this glass it echoes the light reflecting from the waves crashing just beyond the outside deck. Hand carved Koa pineapples complete this island inspired craftsman design.
